My name is Waldek. I was born in Poland and graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology with an Engineer degree in Geodesy and Cartography in 2005. My specializations are Spatial Information Systems and Cadastre.

In 2006, I moved to Ireland and began working for Gas Networks Ireland (formerly known as Bord Gais Networks) as a contractor. Two years later, I was offered a permanent full-time position as a GIS/CAD Technician in the Drawing Office. Between 2007 and 2008, I also worked as a Junior Land Surveyor at Murphy Surveys Ltd., where I was involved in various projects, including topographic surveys, setting out surveys, site control/GPS surveys, and measured building surveys (floor plans and elevations).

In recent years, I developed an interest in Information Technology. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to pursue a career in this sector at Gas Networks Ireland. After 11 years of service, I decided to leave the company to focus on IT. Since then, I have obtained several Microsoft certifications in Microsoft Office Specialist and Web Development.

In January 2020, I enrolled in an intensive 55-week course in Data Analytics. This course provided me with fundamental knowledge in Statistics, Data Science, and Machine Learning. It covered a range of data analytics skills necessary for manual and automated data collection, data analysis, and data visualization. I gained hands-on experience with a variety of data analytics tools and technologies and earned industry certifications in various data science-related technologies. This experience equipped me with the skills to collect, manipulate, transform, process, and analyze data from a wide range of sources, produce technical reports, and deliver data insights using data visualization and statistical techniques. I completed two projects during this course, which are available on my website.

I have also completed a Personal Professional Development Course to better manage my learning and growth throughout my career. Additionally, I completed a Covid-19 Infection Prevention and Control course to ensure I can work safely in a company’s business premises, although I am also capable of working remotely from home.

Programming has become my new passion. I am eager to learn and develop my coding skills, particularly to automate manual processes. After completing the Data Analytics course, I decided to gain more real-life project experience. I learned the Python-based web framework Django and created several applications, which are also available on my website.

In August 2021, I was hired by Entegro to support the GIS team at Virgin Media Ireland. After demonstrating my programming skills, I was directly hired by Virgin Media Ireland six months later. In May 2023, I decided to move to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Virgin Media retained me, and from that moment, I have been working as a freelancer. I am involved in numerous projects and have automated many processes that were previously done manually in various departments.

My relevant passions are programming, swimming, cycling, cooking, good healthy diet, photography,
video editing and foreign travels. I learn Spanish language since last year because I would like to travel
to Latin American Countries in future.
